My First DIY...

I know I'm stealing this from my sister, Lianna, but here goes....

My name is Lisha Ponder, and I am ADDICTED to Pinterest! (Majorly)

I found a canvas painting that caught my eye while I was "pinning" and I showed it to Jenn and we put our heads together and decided that I could do my own adaptation of the painting. Now keep in mind, I am NO artist what so ever, Lianna got ALL the crafty gene's in our family! So when I went to tackle this job, I had to really put my "thinking cap" on. Here is the original version of the painting that caught my eye:
Doesn't it look great?
Now, looking at this and going to the original website to see how they did this, which I'm sure anyone can figure that out, it didn't seem too difficult. However, grey is just not a great color idea for our house AND I wanted to make it my own. So, with a little help from Jenn and her painting supplies that we just happened to have on hand, I got my canvas and got to work. This is the before picture with the tape already to go:

Sorry it's a little dark, but you get the idea
So, I got my tape down on the canvas and then I got to thinking that just one color was just to "drab" for me. I liked the original picture just fine, (obviously I pinned it) but just one color wasn't going to work for me. After some suggestions and a small tutorial from Jenn on how to use her acrylic paints, since I've NEVER painted before, especially with acrylics on a canvas, I was ready to go.

I do have to say it was rather fun, liberating and surprisingly a great stress reliever being able to do what I wanted to the canvas and come out with something that I had created with my own two hands and my some what craftiness. So through out the process I began taking pictures to send to Jenn, she was upstairs, to get some helpful ideas on what my color pallet should be. I wanted to go with something bright and refreshing and I think that is what I achieved! So, here is my final product of my adaptation of the Canvas Painting from Pinterest:
I like it better on the side rather than long ways
Now, my only delema is where I am going to hang it. But I think that for a first time painter, learning on the "fly", I did a rather good job making this art work "my own"! I hope you like it...

I am looking forward to doing more of the projects that I have found on Pinterest. Of course, I drive Jenn crazy with all the fun and useful ideas that I have found and want to make come to life. So, for now, happy "Pinteresting" to you all and I hope you find things that you can make "come to life" on your own as well.
